A Nail Artist’s Hand Creams

Nearly everyone who has ever gotten a manicure before knows how nail artists emphasize the importance of cuticle oil and hand creams. We do so much with our hands — dishes, laundry, even just the constant hand washing — and they just strip our hands of much needed TLC. Ask any nail artist, they probably have their go-to products or ingredients for hand care. Our favorites not only make hands look like super professional models in photos, but they also help prolong nail art. Dry cuticles tend to make us pick at our skin; having moisturized hands will slow down our cuticle picking and therefore nail polish chipping from the cuticle side!

I’ve conditioned myself to use creams and oils religiously. Now, I have eczema, and they seem to always be present on my knuckles and around the cuticles. For practicality, I prefer hand creams over cuticle oils because I need the thickness. At this point, I think it’s safe to say that I go through a lot of hand creams. So, I rounded up a few of my hand creams that I’m using now that I would definitely suggest others to try out!

Skinfix Eczema+ Hand Repair Cream

For bad eczema days: I just recently discovered Skinfix’s Eczema+ Hand Repair Cream. It has 1% colloidal oatmeal (soothes the skin) and 5% sweet almond oil (deep moisturizer) amongst other hydrating ingredients. I’ve tried other products with colloidal oatmeal in the past, but they never quite soothed the eczema itch like Skinfix. It takes a bit longer to absorb into the skin because it has a few hydrating oils in it, but use it as a night mask for hands (and feet!), and it’s a dream!

Le Labo Hinoki Hand Pomade

For a luxurious scent: Le Labo’s Hinoki Hand Pomade is my “treat-yourself-spa-day” hand cream. I grew up with a natural art loving family. I spent summers learning about different woods used in traditional Asian furniture, and I remember being surrounded by the spicy-citrusy-earthy aroma of Hinoki, or Japanese cypress. This hand pomade brings me back to simpler times while leaving my hands incredibly soft. It’s packed with some key ingredients like shea butter, coconut and almond oils, cocoa butter, and so much more.

Lanolips Lemonaid Hand Cream Intense

For a year-round favorite: Lanolips just has some of my favorite creams ever. I love picking up the Lemonaid Hand Cream Intense because lemon cupcakes are one of my favorite things in the world. And this hand cream? It puts a smile on my face every time I use it. In all of Lanolips’ products, they use cruelty-free lanolin as a base to truly give hydration that locks into your skin. For those who are scent-sensitive or just doesn’t want a scent all the time, the All-Over Everywhere Multi-Cream is a life saver. I use it on my cuticles, eczema patches, lips, and literally everywhere that just needs a little more hydration. It’s a very sad day whenever I’m down to the last squeeze of any of my Lanolip creams.

Which hand cream would you try, and what are some of your favorites?
